The story of
Iulia Calota
I was born in Romania and moved to London shortly after graduating from university.
In 2013, having been single for six years, I decided to take control of my love life and launched a one-year project to manage my way into a committed relationship. Nine months into The Love Project, I met my husband Alistair and together we moved to France. We now live on a farm by the river, with our dog Filou, our two cats Lilly and Heathcliff, goats, chickens, horses and poneys. We also run a holiday rental business (Maison de la riviere).
The Love Project is my first book and it chronicles the steps I took to project manage my search for love. I am currently working on my second, a contemporary fiction novel (About Last Night – coming soon).
When I’m not writing, reading or greeting guests, I can be found walking Filou, getting a massage from Lilly, chasing our naughty goat Buddy with the broom, stuffing the horses with carrots, swimming in the river, cycling or doing yoga.
I adore animals, travelling, Basque food and Rioja. One day, I’d like to adopt some donkeys.
